Peterson Returns to Action This Week

Minnesota Vikings owners Zygi Wilf and Mark Wilf announce that Adrian Peterson will practice this week and is expected to play Sunday vs. Saints. The Wilf Brothers said in a statement, “To be clear, we take very seriously any matter that involves the welfare of a child. At this time, however, we believe this is a matter of due process and we should allow the legal system to proceed so we can come to the most effective conclusions and then determine the appropriate course of action.”

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, has been indicted on child abuse charges for his 4 year old son on Friday, Sept 12th.The 29 year old disciplined 4 year old son with a tree branch. Adrian Peterson apologized for “the hurt I have brought to my child” but he insisted that he is “not a child abuser.”Peterson was indicted on child abuse charges on Friday and subsequently deactivated by the Vikings for the teams game last Sunday.

Peterson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, came to his defense on Friday evening, saying that Peterson ” used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas,”

Charles Barkeley weighs in on this situation saying “I’m from the South. Whipping is…we do that all the time,” Barkeley also adds, “Every black parent in the South is gonna be in jail under these circumstances, I think we have to be careful letting people dictate how they treat their children.”

Hopefully, The Vikings organization can remain focuused and find a way to get it done this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, who are 0-2 on the season thus far.

Dolphins Visit The Jets

What Geno Smith will have to do for the Jets to be successful is to read through his options carefully. Smith threw only 9 completions last week vs the Ravens and only through to Santonio Holmes on four pass attempts last week.

Smith has been in world of difficulty the last two weeks without throwing a touchdown. Rex Ryan is still standing behind his rookie quarterback and have full support for him. “Growing pains were expected for a second round pick not quite a year out of West Virginia,” said Rex Ryan.

It’s the first time these two teams are meeting this season. Both teams are at 5-6 thus far this season, looking to reach a .500 record as the race to playoffs continues. Ryan Tannehill has been great during his first 11 games. He’s thrown for 15 Tds and 2784 yards. This will be a huge game for the AFC east division standings as the division race continues.

The Quest for 4-0, Dolphins Take On Saints

Dolphins travel to New Orleans to face the Saints in a battle between two undefeated teams  who are both 3-0 on the season.  Miami is 3-0 for the first time since 2002.

Miami’s win over the Colts in week 2 seemed to catch everyone’s attention. How will they handle a big game on Monday Night Football?

This game is all about quarterbacks. Will it come down to a final drive? Who will make fewer mistakes against the defense? Who will have the better QB rating? That’s what its going to come down to.

Miami has a lot of faith standing behind second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill. There hasn’t been this much talk about a Miami game since Dan Marino suited up. Tannehill has thrown for 827 yards with 4 touchdowns so far this season.

Drew Brees, on the other hand is ranked 3rd in most passing yards this season. The Saints are also getting some support from their outstanding defense being led by Rob Ryan, The saints defense ranks 4th this season with 295.7 yards allowed per game.

The Saints are the clear favorite in tonight’s game being at home and having a Super bowl quarterback in Drew Brees. Brees has 8 consecutive games of 300 yards passing already on the season. Tight end,  Jimmy Graham is the best tight end in football right now and is making it look easy for Drew Brees.  Graham has 23 receptions for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns on the season. Good luck trying to slow him down, he’s at a career best of 15.6 yards per catch.

Don’t miss out on the action, kick off is at 8:40 pm ET.

Giants and Panthers Looking To Gain First Win

NFL: Denver Broncos at New York Giants

It’s week 3 of the NFL season, and in today’s matchup between the Giants and Panthers, both teams are desperate to get a win and get their teams going in the right direction.

Giants need to control the ball and have less turnovers then they had in the first two weeks if they are looking to gain a win today. Eli Manning has thrown 7 interceptions in the first two weeks of play. The Giants offense is still putting pints on the board averaging 27.0 points a game. The Giants also lead the NFL in passing yards with 390 yards per game.

Victor Cruz seems like Eli’s favorite receiver to throw to this season. Victor has 13 catches for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season. “I think we have to win” said Cruz. “Every game’s a must-win for us, and we have to do that. We’re excited for the opportunity.”

But where is that viscious Giants defense we are accustomed to seeing? After watching the Broncos dismantle them last week, hopefully they can contain Cam newton today and force him into some turnovers.

A list of inactives today for New York are QB Ryan Nassib, CB Corey Webster, RB Michael Cox, T David Diehl, T Brandon Mosley, TE Adrien Robinson, DT Johnathan Hankins.

Don’t miss out on the action. Kick off starts today at 1:00 PM.

Andy Reid Returns to Philly

Andy Reid is back in Philadelphia to face off against his former team for the first time since becoming head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Andy Reid  spent 14 years as the Eagles head coach, leading them to five NFC title games and one Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated(2-0) this season thus far, and plan to stay that way.

Michael Vick seems ready for the game tonight as he normally is. Although Vick is playing against his former coach his attitude is the same. “Like I’ve been telling everybody, its just tough seeing him in red” said Michael Vick.

The eagles are the best offense in the NFC east putting up 477 yards per game. After coming off a loss to the chargers last week at home, the eagles plan to bounce back. If the eagles are looking to come up with a win, they’ll have to make some adjustments to their defense and not let up so many rushing yards. The chiefs are an excellent team on the ground ranking eighth in the league with 117.5 rushing yards per game. The chiefs came off of a nail biting win last week against the cowboys 16-17 and look to take out another NFC east contender. This should be an exciting memorable game for these two teams tonight.

The eagles will host the chiefs during Thursday night football on NFL Network @ 8:25 p.m. ET.

Bernard Hopkins Wants A Shot At Floyd Mayweather

IBF light heavy weight title holder, Bernard Hopkins says he wants to challenge Floyd Mayweather this May. Hopkins told ESNEWS “He (Mayweather) can risk going up to 160 and beat anybody. It’s not the weight that’s going to win the fight. Not at this level, it’s the skills!”

Hopkins is just 48 years old and recently became the oldest champion in boxing history after unanimously defeating Jean Pascal in April. Hopkins has a record of 53 wins (32 knockouts, 19 decisions), 6 losses, 2 draws, 2 no contest.

In the meantime, Hopkins will be defending his title on October 19th at the boardwalk against Karo Murat.

I think it would make things interesting to see the two future hall of famers go toe to toe. What are your thoughts? Do you think Hopkins can take Floyd?
